 El doctor Roberto Abreu es miembro fundador de la Sociedad Dominicana de Cirugía de Columna, cuya entidad acaba de escogerlo como presidente para el periodo 2019-2021.

Es jefe del servicio de Neurocirugía y Cirugía de Columna del hospital traumatológico y quirúrgico Profesor Juan Bosch de La Vega.

Profesor de las cátedras de Neuroanatomía y Neurocirugía de la Universidad Católica del Cibao.

Profesor de las residencias de neurocirugía de los hospitales Dr. Darío Contreras y Cabral y Báez.

Médico neurocirujano del Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago.

Miembro de AO Spine, de la Sociedad Dominicana de Neurología y Neurocirugía. También es miembro honorifico de la Sociedad Dominicana de Ortopedia y Traumatología.
